Built on a conviction.
Delivered with precision.
Healing Destinations was created for people who have spent too long being strong for everyone else. It exists because exceptional people deserve a standard of care equal to the life they have built, rigorous, private, deeply personalised, and delivered by a clinical team that understands the specific weight of the world they inhabit.

A world-class clinical task force. One person at a time.
Healing Destinations is a private clinical organisation delivering highly personalised in-residence programmes for individuals, couples, and families. Our model integrates psychiatry, clinical psychology, functional and integrative medicine, neuroscience, relational therapy, ecopsychology, nutrition, and allied health into a single, collaborating multidisciplinary team, assembled with precision around the specific needs of each client.
We operate across exclusive-use private environments in Southern Africa. Each environment is not chosen for its beauty. It is prescribed, selected through the findings of the pre-arrival assessment to match the specific therapeutic, environmental, and neurological requirements of each client’s situation. The destination is part of the treatment plan. No two clients share an environment. No programme follows a standard template.
Our programmes unfold in Southern Africa in the cradle of humankind. This is not incidental. It is foundational.
Beyond Retreats.

For those carrying more than others can see.
The clients who come to Healing Destinations are not fragile. They are depleted. They are individuals who have managed everything and everyone in their lives with extraordinary capability, and who have consistently placed their own health last. They are executives navigating the accumulated neurological cost of sustained high performance. They are women at significant life thresholds, leadership transitions, menopause, postpartum recovery, the quiet unravelling that follows years of relentless giving. They are couples and families whose relationships have frayed under pressure that was never named or adequately addressed. They are people who have sought help before and found that what was available did not match the complexity of what they were carrying.
They arrive knowing, on some level, that what they need is not a retreat. Not a programme. Not another intervention that addresses one dimension while leaving the others untouched. They arrive ready, sometimes exhausted into readiness, for something genuinely different.
Healing Destinations was built for that moment.
Healing Destinations is built around a multidisciplinary clinical task force, a carefully assembled group of specialists.
Our ensembles collective expertise spans every domain of the biopsychosocial-environmental model. Each member was chosen not only for their credentials but for the irreplaceable quality they bring to the work. Together they form a clinical ensemble that no single discipline, and no conventional treatment setting, can replicate.
The task force is organised by domain, ensuring that every dimension of a client’s biological, psychological, social, and environmental situation is held by the right expertise, in the right configuration, at every stage of the programme.
Mica Angel
Mica Angel is the Founder and CEO of Healing Destinations. Her work is grounded in eight years of university-level study in psychology, including a Bachelor of Applied Social Sciences (cum laude) and a Bachelor of Psychology Honours, completed with academic excellence, alongside postgraduate research in clinical psychology at UCT.
Before founding Healing Destinations, her career spanned corporate leadership and entrepreneurial ventures across some of Southern Africa’s most significant organisations. It was within these environments, observing what sustained high performance does to the human being carrying it, that the conviction behind Healing Destinations took shape.
She founded Healing Destinations to close a gap she had witnessed firsthand: that the world’s most capable people rarely have access to a standard of care equal to the complexity of their lives.

Dr Goncalves brings the rigour of academic psychiatry and the precision of specialist clinical practice to the Healing Destinations advisory. His expertise in novel psychiatric treatment approaches, psychedelics, and addiction medicine positions him at the frontier of where clinical psychiatry is moving, and ensures that the task force remains grounded in the most current evidence-based practice.

Jamie brings two decades of deep clinical experience navigating the most complex intersections of the human psyche. His integrative approach, drawing on psychodynamic, somatic, and systemic frameworks, provides the task force with a psychological perspective of rare breadth and depth. He is the person in the room who has seen it all, and who holds that knowledge with both precision and humanity.

The Task Force

Nicola is the task force’s biological anchor, the clinician who looks beneath the surface of symptoms to find the physiological root of what the body is carrying. Her functional and integrative medicine approach addresses hormonal balance, immune function, gut health, nervous system regulation, and sleep, the physical infrastructure that makes all other healing possible. Where conventional medicine asks what is wrong, Nicola asks why.

Ruth sits at the intersection of neuroscience and human relationships, a rare and clinically powerful position. Her PhD in Neuroscience, combined with decades of work in attachment, emotional regulation, and relational dynamics, gives the task force its deepest understanding of how the nervous system and the relational world co-create each other. She developed the evidence-based Reflective Relating model, which she brings to every couple, family, and individual who needs to find their way back to connection.

Victoria holds two distinct and equally vital roles within the Healing Destinations family. As Head of Wellness and Specialised Retreats, she shapes immersive retreat experiences that translate the task force’s clinical depth into a more fluid therapeutic format, ensuring every Specialised Retreat carries the same standard of care as a Core Programme. As Founder of Motherhood, she has pioneered postpartum clinical care in the Southern Hemisphere, creating a programme that meets caregivers with the depth of attention this threshold deserves. She is a rare practitioner who moves seamlessly between clinical precision and deeply human warmth.

Jeffrey is, in the truest sense, irreplaceable. As the founder of Ecopsychology Africa and a practitioner with over four decades of experience weaving together clinical psychology, African culture, and the healing intelligence of the natural world, he brings to the task force something that cannot be credentialled or replicated, a living understanding of why Southern Africa heals people in ways that nowhere else on earth can. When the landscape is the medicine, Jeffrey is the one who knows how to administer it.

Heléne brings a dimension to the task force that very few clinical practices in the world can offer, the intersection of genetic science and personalised nutrition. Her ability to read the body’s biological blueprint and translate it into a precise nutritional protocol means that no two clients eat the same way at Healing Destinations. What nourishes one person may not nourish another. Heléne knows the difference.

Bertus brings the transformative frameworks of third-wave Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, somatic approaches, and Jungian perspectives, to the task force’s psychological work. As a former Chairman of the South African Chapter of the ACBS, he is a practitioner who has dedicated his professional life to understanding the processes of change at their deepest level. He creates the conditions in which people can be fully themselves, and from that ground, begin to grow.

Claire works at the threshold where the body holds what the mind has not yet been able to say. Her integrated practice, drawing on bodywork, movement, breathwork, and guided reflection, offers the task force a somatic intelligence that no amount of verbal therapy can replicate. She restores the body’s capacity to feel safe, to release, and to return to itself.

Cole is a documentary filmmaker and photographic guide who leads immersive expeditions into Africa’s wildest landscapes. His work moves beyond the traditional safari, creating nature experiences where the wilderness sets the pace and extraordinary moments unfold naturally. At Healing Destinations, he designs the nature-immersive experiences integral to the clinical programme, harnessing Africa’s ancient landscapes to restore, reconnect and reorient.
We make no comparisons. Our distinction lies in how we think.
Most clinical settings assess across multiple domains and treat within one. Healing Destinations assesses and treats across all four dimensions of the biopsychosocial-environmental model simultaneously, biological, psychological, social, and environmental, with a task force configured to address each. The assessment determines the team. The team designs the programme. The destination is prescribed as part of the treatment plan, matched to the specific psychological, physiological, and sensory profile of the individual.
The result is a level of clinical coherence, between disciplines, between assessment and treatment, between the programme and the life the client returns to, that is not available elsewhere in this form.
The people we work with carry more than personal weight. Their clarity, their presence, their capacity for connection, these ripple outward into every system they touch. We believe that restoring one person, at sufficient depth, is never only a private act. It is a contribution to the world they inhabit.
